Danielle conceived and developed a public art installation of a growing rice paddy at the World Trade Center. We grew and harvested rice from around the world, representing the demography of New York. Working with artists, rice farmers, educators, architects, engineers, students, and the public, the LUCKYRICE paddy was a 3-tiered structure with seating.
When the rice was ready to be harvested, LUCKYRICE celebrated by hosting a large-scale feast. Additionally, the rice harvest and installation were donated to farmers and community organizations, leading to a completely sustainable installation.
